The Jr. Wildcat football teams continued their dominance this past weekend by advancing four of its five teams into the NorCal Sports Alliance Championships being held November 14th at the Elk Grove/Laguna Stadium at Elk Grove High School.
The FJW Mighty Mites gave up an early touchdown to the Sheldon Jr. Huskies but settled down after that initial score and held the Huskies scoreless for the remainder of the game while posting 21 points of their own for a 21-7 final score. The MMs will meet the Christian Brothers Jr. Falcons in a rematch of the first game of the season and try to avenge their only loss of the year.
The Jr. Pee Wees lost a tough game to the San Joaquin Jr. Rams, 13-7. The Wildcats were leading 7-6 going into the fourth quarter but the Jr. Rams battled back and scored with under 4 minutes remaining. The Jr. Wildcats tried to mount a game winning drive as they did last week against the Jr. Rams, but came up short this time. Congratulations are still in order for the Jr. Pee Wees for a great year.
The Pee Wees held tough against the Sheldon Jr. Huskies and advanced into the Championship with a 12-8 victory. The Jr. Cats were winning 12-0, but the Jr. Huskies put together several long runs in the third quarter that got them back into the game. With the clock ticking in the fourth quarter, the Jr. Huskies mounted one more drive but were denied by the Wildcat bend-but-don't-break defense. The Pee Wees will take on the Lodi Jr. Flames for a rematch against a fierce competitor.
The Jr. Midgets continued their dominant fashion with a 36-6 win over the Valley Jr. Vikings. The Jr. Wildcats scored in every quarter while holding the Jr. Vikings to only one score. The Jr. Midgets will attempt to complete a perfect 10-0 record hen they take on the tough San Joaquin Jr. Rams for the championship title.
At the Midget level, the Wildcats put together a nice combination of runs and passes to overpower the Sheldon Jr. Huskies with a 20-6 victory. The Midgets will take on the Valley Jr. Vikings in a rematch of the third game of the season.
Thanks to the fans for their great support at the Playoffs. The rally towels were flying and the cheers were loud and clear. Thank you to all of the Jr. Wildcat board members and volunteers who made it such a successful day. Without you the Jr. Wildcats would not be the huge success they are. Thank you also to those lucky rally towel drawing winners for being such good sports by agreeing to come out onto the field to kick a field goal. Congratulations to everyone on a great day!!!
Now on to the Championships!!! |
